With so much popularity and a great personality, one will think Penny Ntuli is earning well over R50k as an OAP in one of the biggest radio station in Mzansi, Gagasi FM but in reality, she earned a paltry sum of R2800/month.
In her recent contract with Gagasi FM, Penny Ntuli’s earnings per show was R711. The show usually takes place every Sunday from 1pm – 4pm, which leaves her with R2800 monthly take-home pay.
Penny Ntuli tendered her resignation letter upon Gagasi FM’s refusal to increase her pay to a substantial amount.
“To confirm the “rumours,” yes, I left my job. It was time to renew contracts, and I was given the opportunity to come back this season. I gladly accepted the new show until I was told I’ll be getting paid R 2 800 per month (something not too far from what I was getting paid the past 2 years). I felt disrespected but gathered courage to ask my superiors to review my salary. With that amount, I won’t be able to do anything. I asked, where will I live? Will my family survive with this money? They couldn’t answer.” – She posted on her Facebook wall.
Penny Ntuli clarified that she never left her job because she had a better offer somewhere, but she left because she felt she wasn’t appreciated enough.
“I decided to request they reconsider my contract for this year. I didn’t quit because there was something better out there for me. I didn’t quit because I don’t love what I do; someone who knows me knows how much I love radio and how much I love Gagasi FM. But it’s true I’m not coming back this year, but even so, I am very grateful to Gagasi FM for the opportunity.” – She further said.
