Concerns Continues To Rise About Kanye West

Concerns have continued to rise about the assurance of Kanye West’s visit to South Africa following a publication by Musa Khawula, detailing the failure of Monyake Group, the promoter of the show to fulfill their part of the agreement with Ye’s management, which is the upfront payment of 50% of the booking fee.

According to the contract that was shared online by Musa Khawula, Samuel Monyake through his Monyake Group is expected to pay Kenye West $5 million for his performance at the Ellis Park Stadium. He is to pay 50% upfront via a neutral escrow account on Artist’s signing of Agreement, 25% within 72 hours of announcement, and 25% 7 days after announcement which is September 20.

With the agreement, the Monyake Group was supposed to pay around $1.25 million before the announcement of the show by Kanye West. However, in good faith, Kanye West’s management proceeded to make the announcement while awaiting payment from the Monyake Group. According to Musa Khawula, the Monyake Group has yet to make any commitments or payments.

With no sponsorship, the Monyake Group planned to use the payment from ticket sales to pay some part of Ye’s booking fee, but so far, only 6,000 tickets have been sold on tickets pro. Ticket prices are divided into five categories: Category A, which is the highest, costs R4,865.00; Category B costs R3,895.00; Category C costs R2,795.00; Category D costs R1,995.00; and the lowest, Category E, costs R850.00.

Despite all of these challenges, the Monyake Group are still insisting that the event will hold and ticket sales are still up on TicketPro.
