A couple of weeks ago, Nkeshemba delivered double tracks via ‘Isibaya Sikababa‘ and ‘Ushaka.’ Coming as his second entry for the year following the release of Ngixolele Mtanami, these tracks exposes us to the range of Nkeshemba and his ability to compose melodies that draws us closer to our ancestors.
Nkeshemba hasn’t been in the Maskandi game for long but he has already given us track that aptly reflects the real culture of the Zulus and the power of melodic chants. A couple of weeks back, he gave us ‘Isibaya Sikababa‘ and ‘Ushaka,’ and not only are these records dominating the charts, they have also placed him among Maskandi 2025 hitmakers.
On Isibaya Sikababa, Nkeshemba talks the imports of Cattle and the significance they carry, urging us to not forget our root and not abandon the things that are often dedicated to the spirits and play a sacred role in spiritual practices.
Ushaka sees Nkeshemba calls on our ancestors, asking for their guidance and the strength of Ushaka to handle the challenges we face everyday.
These two offerings were made with perfection, making them feel both timeless and innovative, rooted in Zulu culture but fully alive in today’s Maskandi music scene.
