Summary of Spotify Wrapped 2025: South Africa

The 2025 edition of Spotify Wrapped has finally being unveiled and just like previous years, Amapiano dominated the data.

With more good music released by South African artists, they were able to dominate 70% of the top 10 most-streamed artists in the country. Following Amapiano in streaming numbers is 3Step.

Although no Maskandi artists made it into the top 10 most-streamed artists, Umafikizolo’s ‘Uyoncengwa Unyoko’ was the 9th most-streamed song by South Africans in 2025. While Amapiano artists dominated the top 10 most-streamed artists, the genre was far less represented in the top 10 most-streamed songs. Instead, 3Step completely dominated, with only a few Amapiano tracks managing to chart.

This year, more than 1.3 billion hours of music were streamed on the music platform in South Africa.
