Brenden Praise has brought to the music mainstream “Hi Yena,” a Tsonga worship song that has existed in the church for decades and on this one, he features Free 2 Wrshp.
There are lots of Tsonga songs that are yet to find their way into the music mainstream, and we are glad that artists like Brenden Praise are making that happen. These traditional hymns have become part of a church’s established repertoire and have been passed down from generation to generation, and sincerely, they are not limited to Tsonga rhythms alone; traditional Zulu church settings also have their own hymns.
With the world now a global village, there is a need for these beautiful traditional hymns to be shared with every ear and lover of God’s message, and in this regard, we have Brenden Praise to be thankful for, as he has begun documenting and cataloguing these songs.
Today, he makes “Hi Yena,” a song we all grew up loving, available on digital stores. Although he came in with his own additions and renewed flair, notwithstanding, the song does what it’s intended for: the glorification of Christ our Lord!
