Naledi Aphiwe has lost her entire official YouTube artist channel as well as all her catalogue, the catalogue she has laboured to build over the past couple of years.
The said YouTube channel has garnered hundreds of thousands of subscribers, as well as a cumulative 120+ million streams on her music catalogue. The channel was removed without the notification of Naledi Aphiwe, and despite the efforts by her and her team to restore her channel over the past two weeks, all efforts have proven to be futile.
Moving forward, Naledi Aphiwe will be launching a new channel under her independent label, Naledi Music Group, and she has called on her loyal supporters, as well as members of the media and the broader music community, to rally behind her and support her next chapter.
“Naledi Aphiwe’s official YouTube Artist Channel, along with her existing catalogue, has been removed from the platform without her authorisation, just weeks ahead of the release of her upcoming EP. It has now been almost two weeks since the unauthorised removal, and despite extensive efforts by Naledi and her team, her catalogue has yet to be restored,” a statement from her reads.
“The removed catalogue, which had accumulated more than 120 million views, comprised music videos, audio visualisers and other content that played a significant role in Naledi’s career. Beyond the numbers, the channel formed an important part of her artistic identity and served as a bridge connecting her music with millions of listeners around the world. We call on her loyal supporters, the Starlites, as well as members of the media and the broader music community, to rally behind her and support her next chapter,” she further added.
