Saint is arguably one of Cape Town’s favourite NightClub & Social Lounge. The lounge which trended in December for charging over R1m for their new year Eve is back on the trend tables and this time for a negative reason.
Saint Lounge had recently announced a 3 Nights Exclusive show with Senegalese-American singer Akon which was expected to take place from January 3rd-5th but after selling expensive tickets to groovers/patrons, Akon did not pitch.
After being dragged by customers for being a fraud, Saint Lounge has issued an official statement, revealing why Akon didn’t appear as advertised.
According to the statement, Saint Lounge claimed that they were approached by a representative of Akon who urged them to book the “Lonely” hitmaker. After numerous meetings, the agreed fee were paid in full and on time but only for them to notice later on that there seems to be some issue between Akon and the representatives.
“We would like to address the artist’s no-show at Saint Champagne Bar & Lounge last night: Tuesday 3 January 2023.
We were approached by representatives of Akon with an opportunity for us to book him. After numerous meetings, we agreed on a sum to be paid. We then paid over the amount to the representatives as per our agreement in full and on time.
We have now noticed that there seems to be an issue that we are still trying to ascertain the facts thereof between the representatives of the Artist and his management which has caused Akon to not honour the booking.
The situation last night was beyond Saint Champagne Bar & Lounge’s control. We can also confirm that Akon will no longer be appearing at Saint on any other upcoming night (Wednesday 4 January 2023 & Thursday 5 January 2023), as previously advertised due to the mishap explained above.
