Protecting Your Facebook & Social Media Account As A Producer

For a producer or an artist, one’s social media account is one of his greatest asset, without a huge followings, most brand will find it difficult to work with you.

Over the past few months, we have carefully observed how several accounts of rising producers were being hacked, thereby loosing pages it took them too long to build. Example was how Tallarsetee lost his facebook page with over 100k likes, last month, Njelic also lost his facebook page with over 150k likes and DJ Jaivane has just recently lost his Instagram account with thousands of followers.

To avoid future occurances, we are giving you some tips on how not to fall for these hackers.

1. Have a strong password: One way of securing your account is to have a strong password, avoid including your name (Stage name), phone number, date of birth, email address or common words.

2. Review Page roles and permissions (Facebook): Be sure to familiarize yourself with the different Page roles that exist and the permissions they have. We recommend regularly reviewing who has admin access to your Page in settings, and when you add your Page to a Business Manager, please take a moment to understand the permissions you allow.

3. Watch out for the links you click: Most times, hackers get your login details using a method called phishing, were they use a fake website to trick you into giving them your email and password.

Before inputting your passwords on any site, be very sure it’s the website, you can crosscheck that on the address bar.

4. Avoid using someone’s device to log-in to your social media accounts.
