Fela was one of Africa’s biggest act and brain behind Afrobeat, an African music genre that combines traditional Yoruba percussion and vocal styles with American funk and jazz. Not only was Fela a musician, he was also a political activist, and Pan-Africanist who fought corruption in his country while also kicking against racism and the colonization of the African continent.
