Mgaga is a Kwaito Rapper from the East Rand of Johannesburg. Born as Akhona More, Mgaga began his music career in 2014 as part of a group called PAQ performing in popular clubs around South Africa with 2 hit singles. Formally known as Radi-AK, Mgaga is now taking on the world as a solo act with authentic Kwaito music.
At an early age Mgaga was moved from Alexandra township to Tembisa and then to Edenvale. Growing up with a heavy Hip Hop and Kwaito influence, Mgaga started writing rap songs and freestyle battling, later discovering that expresses himself best and relates to his audience in vernac utilizing the Kwaito flow. Mgaga has since released 2 songs after the rebranding from formally being called Radi-AK to now going by Mgaga, a name he was popularly known by since before he pursued music professionally.
The word “Mgaga” refers to an AK47 because the first letters of his birthname “Akhona” are “AK”, which is his childhood name.
