“Ka Valungu” by Tebza De DJ & DJ Nomza The King has been re-uploaded back on all digital streaming platforms after it was taken down due to copyright issues.
“Ka Valungu” is a piano rendition of “African Vibes Part 2,” a classic track by Peta Teanet that was taken from his album, King of Shangaan Disco which released a few days after he was shot dead in 1996.
Tebza De DJ’s rendition of the track brought back the old flavour and infectious desire of the long forgotten record but his approach of illegally sampling the record without any approval from Peta Teanet’s family landed him in big trouble.
The track which was already displacing Tyler ICU’s Mnike single on chart was brought down for copyright infringement. After many legal processes were initiated, Empire records secured the rights for Tebza De DJ to sample the track but on a fair share deal between all parties. Thankfully, the track is available on all digital platforms and you can make your purchase without feeling any guilt.
