Metro FM Returns With Music Awards After Long Break

After five years break, Metro FM is finally returning with their critically acclaimed Music Awards.

The mega FM station held the last episode of the award show in 2017 and plans for new editions were stalled due to financial difficulties and later the COVID-19 pandemic.

With everything finally in place, the METRO FM Music awards are back and better than ever! They announce the return in an official statement shared by the Group Executive for SABC Radio Ms. Nada Wotshela.

“We are excited to bring back one of the SABC’s biggest events that is loved by millions of our audiences. This event has grown to be embraced by the industry and surely has made an indelible mark, hence the demand for it remained high even at the time of its short break. This property presents a great opportunity to amplify the SABC’s brand equity and strengthen our efforts of taking SABC brands to the people.” she said.

The METRO FM Music awards will touch on all leading South African genres and submissions will be open at midnight on 19 January 2023 and will be closed on Tuesday, 28 February 2023. Interested applicants are expected to visit http://metrofmmusicawards.co.za and fill the necessary details.

Please note that only music and music videos released between 28 February 2022 and 28 February 2023 will be eligible for nominations.

The award ceremony will take place on 29 April at the City of Mbombela and will be broadcasted live on SABC1 and supported by various SABC radio stations.
