Sjava Finally Drops “Isibuko”

Sjava Finally Drops Isibuko

Sjava has truly broken down barriers for Afropop and hip-hop in the South African music scene. He’s one of the first artists to successfully incorporates local flavor to the sound, making it gain massive acceptance by South Africans. After plenty of anticipations, the producer has finally delivered his fourth studio project, “Isibuko.”

“Isibuko” is an isiZulu word for ‘mirror.’ The album is a self-
reflection of oneself and the society at large. Isibuko is Sjava’s meditation on the ups and downs of love, and life’s unending challenges and triumphs, as he takes time to inspire and motivate.

With a reputation for head banging anthems, Sjava didn’t dissappoints on this project as he compiles 18 hefty tracks that showcases his many sides and abilities. Among my favorites are his stunning collaboration with Nontokozo Mkhize on “Thixo,” and his heart touching masterpiece, “Amavaka.”

Sjava is not just an artist but a mediator between us and our ancestors. A mediator between a world unknown and a world which is very well known to us. On
“Isibuko,” he drags us closer to our root with his voice and powerful lyrics.
