Tyla is currently the biggest South African artist on Spotify, boasting over 4.1 million monthly listeners. This surpasses Kabza De Small, who has 1.6 million listeners, Black Coffee with 2.2 million listeners, DJ Maphorisa with 2.8 million listeners, and Master KG with 3.5 million listeners.
Tyla made her burst into the international music scene with the release of “Water.” The song which has garnered over 200 million views on Tiktok is currently one the biggest SA music in the international scene.
With its sudden surge in the trend tables, “Water” has become the first song by a South African artist in 4 years since “Jerusalem” to receive 1.1 Million global streams in a day, with over 18 Million streams on Spotify in just 2 months of its release.
