Amapiano production duo, Shakes & Les has announced the release date and tracklist of their debut album, Mkhaya.
Shakes & Les has always been a DJ and producer known for their superb delivery, be it in the studio or on the big stage. You can’t call yourself an Amapiano follower if you don’t have at least two of their works on your playlist. Their ‘Funk 99’ with LeeMcKrazy is currently one of the biggest Amapiano record of the year, amassing close to 5 million streams in a space of 3 months.
Building on their recent gains, the duo has just revealed that their first studio project is in the works. To be released under the banner of Mkhaya, this upcoming project is expected to hit stores October 18 and it will hold 14 tracks.
‘We present to you our debut album “MKHAYA” dropping 18 Oct 2024 🛖. Mkhaya means Family, Home, Unity in Colloquial language. Mkhaya is also used as a way to refer to your fellow brother/sister or even a friend from one’s home region or belonging to one clan. We named the album Mkhaya as we are home boys, we come from the same Hometown called Kabokweni. The music we produced in this album we refer to it as Mkhaya music, this is music that you can listen to with your families, music that you can listen to at home chilling, music that can heal you, music that unites people. The mission was to showcase the world how versatile Shakes & Les is, by leaning more to the soulful side of our production.
