Mixes are more than just the concoction of sounds. This is where most people get it wrong. A lot of components and factors are considered before you rate good music, and one of them is the transition of sound, and how it transforms from one emotive record to the other, carrying along the emotions of listeners.
In the whole of the South African music scene, only a few Deejays give us such pristine mixes, and Ceega is among them. Although he can’t be equal in relevance to legends like Black Coffee and Kabza De Small, he has spent the last decades refining solely his curatorial craft, and his mixes and the impact they have made on a vast number of listeners are a testament to his creative energy and purpose.
“Meropa 234” is the latest from him, and this one runs for two hours plus, and the timing and transitioning on this one is superb.
