Davido, JAZZWRLD & GL_Ceejay Align For “I Know Who I Be”

Davido, JAZZWRLD & GL_Ceejay - I Know Who I Be

Music is a universal language, and this a fact that Davido, JAZZWRLD & GL_Ceejay understands perfectly as they fuse together two different cultures in “I Know Who I Be,” a Nigerian slang for “I known who I am.

Davido has always been a fan of the sounds coming from South Africa. In a number of interviews, he has given credit to Amapiano and House sub-sounds like 3 Step. Although 3 Step is a relatively new sub-sound of House music, it has managed to penetrate dancefloors and charts not only across South Africa but also in countries across the continent, including Nigeria, where some of JAZZWRLD & GL_Ceejay’s contributions to the sound—such as “Isaka II (6am)” with CIZA, “uValo” with Babalwa M & Dlala Thukzin, “Bengicela” with MaWhoo & GL_Ceejay, “Uzizwa Kanjan” with MaWhoo & GL_Ceejay, and “Tholukuthi (Clap Song)” with GL_Ceejay & MaWhoo, have continued to shake speakers and turn heads.

Tapping into the sweet melodies and glory of this sound, Nigeria’s Davido has just released a new 3 Step-inspired single titled “I Know Who I Be.” On this one, he fuses 3 Step with Afrobeats melodies, and we can’t get enough of it.

This track marks Davido’s first venture into 3 Step. Although he’s no stranger to the melodies coming out of Mzansi, this one feels fresh, and we have JAZZWRLD & GL_Ceejay to thank for it.
