Emtee Calls Out PLATOON LTD For Not Remitting Royalty

South Africa’s biggest rapper, Mthembeni Ndevu, popularly known as Emtee, has called out PLATOON Ltd for allegedly failing to remit royalties to his personal account, rather payments were sent to a fraudulent account.

In a statement released earlier today, the Emtee Records boss said he entered into a distribution agreement with Platoon Ltd on 30 September 2020 for his album Logan. Under the agreement, Platoon distributes the music digitally and pays 80% of the royalties to the artist while retaining 20%.

Between January 2021 and February 2023, Platoon reportedly made monthly payments totalling nearly R700,000 to him for the streaming and sales of Logan. Although these payments were reflected on his dashboard, the funds were allegedly sent to an account that does not belong to him or his business.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Platoon had sent the payments to a fraudulent account listed on the portal.

PLATOON Ltd has yet to respond to the allegations levelled against it by Emtee.
