GoldMax did the unthinkable with his “eZimbali” single and it was not surprising for us to see it dominate the airwaves.
The Gqom influence in the South African music scene has declined a lot since the year 2018. By this, I mean, Gqom no longer has dominant control of the charts and airwaves on the national stage like it once used to, especially when Amapiano emerged and completely displaced it. Although Gqom still has its total hold in its province of origin, like in the Western Cape.
While Gqom is now mostly cornered in some sectors of the country, every once in a while, we do get blessed with a Gqom song that completely dominates everywhere, and now, we have one such song at hand, and this one is delivered to us by GoldMax, and it is titled “eZimbali.”
The first time we heard “eZimbali” on Ukhozi FM, we knew this one would completely dominate the charts, and we were not wrong. Since Ukhozi FM playlisted it, it has been the most in-demand song on the radio station, and not let’s talk about social media, heck, this song has got listeners going gaga on TikTok.
And the most impressive fact about eZimbali is that GoldMax is the one who both produced the beat and performed the vocals.
