The collaboration that many of us had dreamed of has finally happened. The coming together of Tyla & Babalwa M has been the wish of fans of the duo, and their newest drop, “I Don’t Care,” was worth it all.
Tyla released her long-awaited “A*POP” album a couple of hours ago, but before it was officially released on streaming platforms, there was a listening party that many people had the opportunity to attend. As is the case with listening parties, tracks from the album were played, but one song that has quietly found its way into a special corner in our head is “I Don’t Care.”
I don’t say this because of my bias towards these two versatile vocalists who are shaping the South African music scene. And if that is true of my bias, there is nothing wrong with liking artists who are blessing our playlists with good music. That aside, what they created under the banner of “I Don’t Care” is something we don’t experience too often in the South African scene.
Devoid of any vulgar slang, this one tells a story that many of us can easily relate to. And, obviously, for those with soft hearts, they might want to keep a box of tissues close by because their eyes will become teary while listening to this one.
