One half of MFR Soul, Maero has aligned with soulful king of Amapiano, Kelvin Momo for this beautiful new entry called “Umoya.”
The veterans are aligning, and this is what we want to see. As much as we love and appreciate what the new kids on the block are doing, we can’t do away with the mature input of veterans like Maero & Kelvin Momo. Not only are these figures the brains behind one of the biggest sounds to ever come out of Mzansi, but they were also the ones who carried the sound on their backs when no one else was willing. As a result, they took the pain to nurture it, and it was during this process of nurturing that they formulated the essence of the sound, which they have used to guide subsequent productions.
Taking us back to the true soulful sounds of Amapiano while also applying a modern twist, because believe me, an artist’s survival depends solely on how they adjust to the changes that have continued to sweep through the scene, Maero & Kelvin Momo have aligned for “Umoya.”
“Umoya” is an explosive soulful track, and a close listen reveals an homage to the soulful sounds of the past, with a modern touch.
