Thokozani Langa has released another emotional song via “Bhimbi Zanele” and this one reminds us of those sweet Maskandi songs we grew up with.
As much as we appreciate the contributions of young talents to the growth of the Maskandi sound, we can’t help but notice their sounds have come with a lot of changes, and one of such changes is their gradual erosion of the golden era of Maskandi, with some missing elements and essence that have really defined the genre.
And this here is why we are always glad that veterans like Thokozani Langa still exist in the scene. With over two decades spent in the industry, he is one of the few active producers who are still capable of making music that returns us to the roots of traditional Zulu music, making the younger generations of Maskandi fans get to experience the classic and old-school Maskandi sound.
This type of sound is what he packs on his newest song, “Bhimbi Zanele.” Taken from his Once View album, this song talks about a relationship where a woman left her lover, and the old lover is expressing his pain and acceptance.
