The next Maskandi hit might just be “Ukhona uShembe” by uDumakahle. Guys, we are loving every piece of this track and we know you too would.
When uDumakahle released Disc 1 of “Isithunzi Sakho,” we were not in a hurry to pick our favourite. Doing so would mean we had made a bad judgment. We first had to play all 13 tracks from the album repeatedly, and on our fifth listening, one song kept dragging us back for a replay, and that is “Ukhona uShembe.”
A song with a runtime of 3:04, this song revolves around an infectious vocal delivery, dwelling on the spiritual essence of our people that resides deep within us all, while also reminding us of the power the Maskandi sound carries.
There are a whole lot more reasons why “Ukhona uShembe” should be crowned the favourite of the album, not to say it’s the only finest song that was crafted on the newly launched “Isithunzi Sakho” album, but the essence and messages on this one are strong and will surely strengthen our spirituality.
