Following the release of her debut album, Song is Queen in 2023, Lady Du is now gearing for her second studio project to be released via “Underrated.”
Lady Du has been one of the most consistent anthem launchpads in the Amapiano scene. While she has cranked out more infectious releases than most of her peers, she only has one body of work under her belt. But that is about to change as the vocalist is now preparing for her next studio project.
Lady Du is very meticulous when it comes to writing songs. The singer and vocalists first caught the attention of the Amapiano community back in 2020 after she paired with Busta 929, Mpura, Mr JazziQ, Zuma & Reece Madlisa to release Umsebenzi Wethu. The following year, he gave us “uZuma Yi Star,” and “Woza” with Mr JazziQ, Kabza De Small & Boohle, and ever since, she has been making a name for herself via her infectious offerings.
Solidifying her hold in the music scene, she has just announced that her second studio project, Underrated is currently in the works. Underrated will be out on her birthday, May 17 and it will be promoted by the pre-release single, “NGWENYA” with Nkosazana Daughter.
“I’m an African child born from the NGWENYA family!! I’ve been through sooo much in my life, I feel like my grandfather would be sooo proud if he was alive. On the 10th we are dropping my first single from the EP titled NGWENYA with the most amazing vocalist ever @nkosazana_daughter who taught me sooo much about myself in a shot space of time! I’m finally dropping my EP on my actual birthday the 17th of may. I worked with people I feel South Africa needs to see!!! Vocal powerhouses, I chose the title UNDERRATED to represent all the artists that feel like they should be somewhere but there’s a lot happening that stops them from being the greatest.” – Lady Du
The upcoming release will feature contributions from Aymos, Nkosazana Daughter, Professor, T-Man SA, Dinky Kunene, Ntokzin and Shino kikai. This project will find a place in the Amapiano arena when released on May 17th.
