While many celebrities in South Africa are avoiding joining the discussion surrounding the anti–illegal migration protests currently rocking the country, Oscar Mbo has said he supports it.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, the house music producer said he is not against people from other African countries entering South Africa, but if they want to, they should use the proper channels.
Referencing other countries, he noted that many have strict border controls, including Nigeria. He claimed that if a foreigner enters Lagos without the proper documentation, they would be deported. However, he argued that in South Africa, people expect everything to be allowed without restrictions.
“South Africa for South Africans, kwanele! ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 If foreigners want to be here, it should be through the proper channels and processes. As someone who travels frequently, the level of frustration during visa application periods is immeasurable. Other countries implement strict measures to govern their nations for their own people—why shouldn’t we? One thing many people may not know is that it can take 7–8 hours to enter Lagos, Nigeria (or more if you don’t have the right connections) due to their visa system and strict security controls. If not done correctly, they deport you back to your country immediately. There is no reason why South Africa should accommodate the whole world without measures. NO! 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦,” he posted.
