A Friday is perfect when the biggest forces in the Amapiano scene align for a collaborative work and this is what we get via this Tman Xpress, Mellow & Sleazy-collaborative album, “Midnight In Diepkloof Zone 2.”
Previous releases are important when it comes to album series. If earlier installments slap hard, there’s usually a strong expectation that the next offering will do the same. In the case of the “Midnight In Diepkloof Zone” series, the first episode truly delivered, and as tradition demands, the trio have returned with another installment.
“Midnight In Diepkloof Zone 2” falls short by just one track compared to the first episode, which had 10 tracks. This new project is made up of powerful songs and features collaborations with Leemckrazy, Carter IV, Rasca D’djy, Portia, HouseXcape, Soul Revolver, Djy Ma’Ten, and Zambezi Shandu.
Although packaged as a 9-track album, the project explores several spectrums of Amapiano, including Sgidongo, fine-tuned by HouseXcape, Sgija, represented by Djy Ma’Ten, as well as Private School Piano. The inclusion of these diverse Amapiano subgenres makes for an interesting and engaging listen.
