Zoli White Smoke’s newest EP is mostly filled with bangers, but one track that has been on repeat on my device is “O Kgotlelele,” a song she did with Master Chuza , Dj Janisto & SmeezyOn The Beat.
Unlike albums, you don’t need to spend long hours listening to a project before finding your favourite tracks. Due to their nature, EPs usually contain a small number of songs, and these tracks, often carefully selected from a larger collection of unreleased and shelved records, tend to be among the strongest and most melodious. Therefore, we were not surprised to find Zoli White Smoke’s Sounds of a Rain EP packed with a handful of concise yet impressive tracks. One song that particularly caught our attention is none other than “O Kgotlelele.”
“O Kgotlelele” is a collaboration featuring Master Chuza, DJ Janisto, and Smeezy On The Beat. From this lineup alone, you can already tell that the song was destined to be a banger.
The track represents a significant departure from what is typically obtainable in the Lekompo music scene, which may explain why it has become one of the fans’ favourite picks from the project. From my observation, this fresh approach to Lekompo music is becoming increasingly prominent in Zoli White Smoke’s soundscape.
