I didn’t see this collaboration coming, but damn, it’s what many of us silently prayed for. Out now from the stables of Thatohatsi & Sjava comes “Ama Hem Hem,” and this one is a collaboration with ShaunMusiq.
Thatohatsi is the new voice of the South African music scene. Not only is her range felt in the Amapiano space, but it is also beginning to cover diverse sounds like House and its various spectrums and sub-genres, as well as Maskandi and Lekompo. Joining her vocals with one of the biggest legends in the scene, Sjava, the two have served us this powerful song called “Ama Hem Hem.”
“Ama Hem Hem” was produced by ShaunMusiq. You might think the producer only has experience in Amapiano, with little expertise in sounds that Sjava flourishes in, like Hip-hop, but he kept a balance on this one, bringing in Amapiano flairs with Hip-hop influences that made it possible for the two giant vocalists from different backgrounds to blend and create a great release.
This song has a runtime of 7:31, and it’s one that first strikes with its instrumental before giving you a vibe to hold on to and come back to over and over again once the vocals are finally introduced. Take a bite below!
