ATK MusiQ & Mr Nation Thingz have delivered their long awaited Cuba Beats, Tee Tee SA & Snyper Reloaded-assisted single, Shashalaza FC, and guys, this is the kind of song you don’t want to sleep on.
I think the reunification of ATK MusiQ is a good thing for the Amapiano sound. The trio were one of the biggest groups back when the genre was still relatively unknown and growing. Their productions, which were mostly released through DJ Jaivane’s Simnandi Records, gave Amapiano the wings it needed to soar above established sounds.
When they split, we felt something was missing from the Amapiano pie, and for years we couldn’t pinpoint what it was. Although they never stopped releasing music, Amu Classic & Kappie formed a duo, of course, since they are blood relatives, while Thuske SA went solo, we never fully felt whole despite their individual releases. It wasn’t until recently, when the ATK MusiQ group was reinstated, that we finally rediscovered what we felt was missing from the Amapiano sound. After listening to their first productions as a reunited trio, we instantly regained that feeling, and I don’t want it to go away anytime soon.
Continuing their job of soaking us with their renewed melodic goodness, they have just released “Shashalaza FC” with Mr Nation Thingz, Cuba Beats, Tee Tee SA & Snyper Reloaded.
