As part of his three parts project, Gaba Cannal has returned with another disc of his uYena album series. Out everywhere is “uYena, Pt. 2.”
The Amapiano scene doesn’t know how lucky it is to still have its pioneers making music. Believe it or not, most pioneers of the sound would have hung their boots and lived off the proceeds of their already established works. While this seems like an easy life, the implication of this is that the genre gets degraded to the extent that it no longer holds its true essence. As more and more new people jump on the sound, they bring new twists and flavours, and many times, lose the true essence of the sound along the process.
But with the existence of veterans like Gaba, the true essence of the sound gets retained and pushed down to newer generations. This way, even when the genre undergoes musical evolution, which is a normal thing in the music scene because nothing really is constant, it doesn’t lose its true essence along the way.
Giving us that complete album that is a pure reflection of what Amapiano used to be, Gaba Cannal has just delivered to us “uYena, Pt. 2.” Featuring five tracks, this album is an extension of his three-part series, with the third episode rumoured to be released in December.
