Thuli Phongolo has given details of how she was assaulted by DJ Maphorisa. According to the statement given to Sandton Police Station, Phongolo revealed that he met her boyfriend (DJ Maphorisa) on that fateful day to discuss account an accident that occurred earlier in club they were both booked to perform, but to her greatest suprise, DJ Maphorisa became aggressive and went on to assault her.
“On Sunday 2023/5/7 at about 12pm, I was at my place of residence with my boyfriend, Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe, better known as DJ Maphorisa. I confronted him so that we can talk about our argument, which happened the previous night during his gig… He held me and took me to the balcony, and grabbed me aggressively by my neck,” said Phongolo in the statement.
Thuli Phongolo also revealed that DJ Maphorisa seized her phone during the heated argument and she was only able to get it back when he became relaxed. DJ Maphorisa is currently detained at Sandton Police station and he is expected to appear before Randburg Magistrate court on the charges levied on him by his girlfriend.
