Understanding The Tussle Between Open Mic Productions & Makhadzi

There is currently a dispute between Open Mic Productions and Makhadzi, and we would like to provide a deeper understanding of the whole tussle.

Makhadzi was signed into Open Mic Productions on 9th March 2023 for a three years deal. During this period, she is expected to release a given numbers of albums, singles and collaborate with other Open Mic Productions-signed Artists.

The Management agreement signed by Makhadzi and Open Mic Productions included a clause which empowers Open Mic Productions to an automatically renew the contract after its expiration.

As per clause 6.3 of the Management agreement, Open Mic Productions immediately renewed the clause on February 17 to begin March 9th 2023 and terminate March 9th 2026.

Effect on Makhadzi’s Career and recently Launched Record Label

Since there is still a binding contract between the two parties, Open Mic Productions still considers Makhadzi a member of its label and as such has control over her masters.

She is still expected to fulfill her contractual obligations, including attending gigs and collaborating with other label mates, until the matter is resolved in a competent court of law.
