The core of DJ Maphorisa and Samthing Soweto’s beef stems from a dispute over masters ownership. While Samthing Soweto is seeking a stake in the Amalanga Awafani single, DJ Maphorisa opposes the idea, as his label wants 100% ownership of the track.
Following Samthing Soweto’s outburst where he alleged that DJ Maphorisa is seeking to keep him away from benefiting from his works, Dj Maphorisa has responded to his claims, stating that Samthing Soweto should stop seeking to claim the masters of every song he’s featured on as that is never going to happen.
In a nearly two minutes video uploaded on his twitter feed, DJ Maphorisa questioned why Samthing Soweto who is demanding for a share of the masters of ‘Amalanga Awafani’ didn’t allow anyone own a share of the masters of their 2019 Amantombazane hit single.
DJ Maphorisa reminded Samthing Soweto that if he should own the masters of all tracks recorded on his studio, that the vocalist will be left with nothing. But Samthing Soweto is still insisting that he doesn’t joke with his masters and he can’t let go of his shares for free without a reward.
