August 28 is the day most Listeners of Maskandi won’t forget in a hurry. Released on the special weekend was “Easy Target” by Mthandeni SK, a solid collection of bangers that takes us to the dept of the sound, and one track from the album that is wrecking havoc on charts is this Sne Ntuli-assisted song “Ichunu.”
It’s natural for every album released to have its star songs. Although some rare albums do have multiple star records, the norm has always been one song that acts as the face of the album, and for Mthandeni SK’s newest album, “Easy Target,” the lead track on it is “Ichunu,” a song with Sne Ntuli.
Mthandeni SK took his time to cook this one. In fact, work on the song began in the early weeks of the year, and finalization and sound polishing were done weeks just before the album was ready for release on stores, so you can always expect it to be a banger, which it already is at the moment, dominating the top spots on SA charts and amassing nearly a million cumulative streams in just a few hours of its release.
Sne Ntuli deserved accolades on this track. The way she blends her sultry vocals with the Maskandi rhythm and Mthandeni SK’s flows is recommendable, and no matter what sound you lean on, you will surely have yourself basking in the heavy traditional Zulu melodies that this song is all about.
