Dlala Thukzin & Funky Qla have done the unthinkable with their newest single, “Maye,” and this one is a collaboration with Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa & Thatohatsi.
Amapiano perfectly fusing with Gqom, although in a subtle way, was not something many of us imagined. But nothing is impossible in the South African music scene. Bringing a new wave of vibes to the Gqom sound, Dlala Thukzin & Funky Qla have delivered to us this refreshing Gqom song that features the best support a track can get.
“Maye” is a collaboration with Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa & Thatohatsi, and while you might be forced to think that these support artists, based on their Amapiano origin, would try to greatly change the rhythm of the song and rob it of all of its Gqom essence, they in fact kept intact the Gqom flair and rhythm presented by Dlala Thukzin & Funky Qla, only subtly incorporating piano vibes, in a way that the two sounds flow effortlessly.
And trust Thatohatsi to kill it with her vocals, proving once again that there is no limit to the sounds she can kill with her stunning vocals and writing prowess. This song is for the charts and dancefloors!
