Jnr SA recently released The Remix EP, a collection of four tracks that retouched some of Kabza De Small’s biggest hits. One rendition from this project that has got us on a chokehold is “Ngyozama,” a song that was originally performed Kabza De Small, Sykes, Young Stunna, Nkosazana Daughter, Tracy & Thatohatsi.
Taken from his Bab’Motha album, this song was one of the biggest songs on the album, and before anyone reached for a remix, it was already one of Amapiano’s most inescapable records. While this song has its strong footing within the Amapiano soundscape, its influence cuts across multiple genres. And to stretch its influence further into the House scene, Jnr SA has returned with his House rendition.
This remix, like most on the album, saw Jnr SA resist the urge to fall into the piano trap. Rather, he re-engineered the beat and then introduced pure House essence that does one thing and one thing only: elevate the melodies of the song and sharpen the already infectious vocals.
Jnr SA’s remix of “Ngyozama” maintains the runtime of 6:28 as well as the vocals, while rebuilding everything under it.
